A nasty trend im noticing on social media with regards to the UK. Drunk young women on nights out in Manchester and Liverpool being unknowingly filmed and uploaded on social medias. Labelled like “UK nightlife at 3am”. It’s only women that are being filmed.

The videos seem to go viral on various social media platforms with the comments hounded with misogynists being triggered by the fashion sense and women having fun, or pervs drooling over the women.

I’ve seen these videos have up to like 70 million views on twitter, TikTok and instagram

I have only seen these videos stemming from two countries, primarily the UK, but I’ve also seen an instance of this content from Russia.

Is this something that is happening in your country?

Someone was actually arrested for it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2450d5993vo.amp

  1. Getting totally piss drunk is still a thing in the K, that trend has been dropping in many other European countries for a while. The Gen Z doesn’t drink much and the emerging Alpha generation seem to be the same. Maybe potentially being exposed on social media is a factor in that though.

  2. I can‘t recall ever coming across such a video, or hearing anyone complaining about something like that. So, in my personal experience, no.

However, going out drinking, or just going out in general, has declined in recent years in Austria among the youth, so that might be a factor at play as well?

  3. Being noticeably and awkwardly drunk is more of an old man thing. People do occasionally film and post that. Some of these videos become viral. Haven’t seen anything like that with young (gen Z) people. I haven’t really seen drunk young people for more than a year at least.

  4. Yes I saw large groups doing it in Leeds. The men were not drinking and it seemed very dangerous for the girls

  5. It’s the case when the talking started way **after** the actual troubles did. This started in the 90ies, OP.

  6. I dont think thats a thing here, sounds vile..
We did have a guy filming men and women on bikes breaking the law..

  7. >Is this something that is happening in your country?

Definitely. Is it happening often? I doubt that. Have I ever heard such stories outside twitter feminists? No. Have I ever talked to actual women? Sometimes I have.

  8. No. It would be illegal under German law anyway, for violating several rights of the persons depicted.

  9. I’m not on tiktok but I saw videos you mentioned on youtube. I recall the UK, Ukraine and some Asian country. I’m not sure if it happened here as well, but I have never heard of a single instance.

  10. There’s something similar, some walking channels are filming all over Europe, but they walk around areas known for nightlife, and then they put girls in thumbnails or video highlights to get more viewers….I saw even some that are walking on beaches that are common for women to be topless. Walking channel seem innocent enough, but I think it’s pretty creepy filming people without consent like this.

  11. No but I’ve seen the Liverpool one as it was sponsored for some reason. I don’t live in the UK and haven’t been there in years.
