New neighbor moved in house next door, single woman. I introduced myself after awhile while we were both in backyards and asked for her phone in case of emergency. I have a dog who might escape from the backyard when I'm gone, my house could be on fire, someone could see someone burgling one of our houses whatever. I've lived here 25 years and I think its good practice.

She gives me her phone number and later I text welcoming her to the neighborhood and said, "I just wanted to make sure the number worked". Again this is just the minimum level of neighborliness.

No answer.

OK. So about a month later she has several Roto-Rooter trucks in her yard, she had a large tree removed and what looked like quite an ordeal going on. Of course I'm concerned, its a sewer issue. I text and no answer again.

I finally text, "Hello?" and she replies about her sewer drain.

Okay, so the text had gone through before. She just ignored me.

On another occasion, she's out walking her dog, I say hello and mention something about the weather. Ignored.

Fast forward about 5 months. I am doing yard work and have leftover herbs from trimming. I think ok it would be neighborly if I ask if maybe she wanted them. So text and I offer. "Just let me know and I'll put them on your porch".

No answer.

I get the whole creepy guy next door bothering the single woman thing. But I'm not a creepy guy, I'm a human being.

I'm not interested in her at all. I think its just fine to occasionally talk to your neighbors. And believe me, its minimal!

So is it socially acceptable for single women to just choose when they want to reply, and when you're invisible, if its a man? I think its just rude. Would you say anything, or just accept being treated like this, like a bothersome creep in your own home. IDK just wanted other people's opinions/experiences.

BTW: If my post here is removed, or some rule is brought up saying its not permitted for whatever reason just consider that I've quit the forum. I copied and saved this and will just try posting it somewhere else. I get so frustrated with Reddit. I absolutely hate it with a passion, I'm only enduring it to try and talk to other people. I'm not being touchy, just speaking from years of experience using it.
