I walk to work or uni usually which is like 1.5h overall, can’t do much more exercise bcs of health issues š but I try to walk plenty, take the stairs always and so on. Urban area
Typically cycle 10km (as transport), walk for around 2hrs, and do some form of actual exercise (e.g. swimming, weights, or sport).
Sitting down is at least 8hrs for work type activities. Plus probably another 2-3hrs for non-work type activities like eating, writing, or music.
Big city girl, not particularly active or sporty.
I cycle to my very sedentary workplace 3x a week unless itās absolutely pissing down or thereās sleet on the road, some 5-7km one direction depending on the route I take.
Most of my everyday life and errands is walking. I live in a residential, āvillage within the cityā style area in the outskirts of the city and more often than not, walking or cycling is faster than taking public transport. Especially when youād have to take one tram stop this direction, change, and two bus stops the other direction but you can just walk the diagonal.
I also try to go to the pool and swim laps 1-3 times a week.
I almost always get 10 thousand steps in, and try to get to the gym 3 or 4 days a week.
Whoever I work with computers so I spend a good amount of my working days sitting down
I cycle to work (15 km round trip), which is half sitting, half standing (I teach and am also coordinator). Besides that I try to lift some weights once or twice per week and go cycling on my race bike 3 times per week (roughly 150 km per week).
I live on the edge of a medium sized city (for Belgian standards at least, 250k inhabitants)
I do at least three walks a day with my dog, and go for occasional runs.
But I hate how inactive I have become over the last few years (due to work and university). I used to practice martial arts 2-3 times a week, ride my horses 3-6 times a week, do a nightly run (2km) and bike everyday. I gained 20kg in three years time. Truly horribleā¦
I have an office job so I sit down a lot, but I try get around 10k steps a day. Usually it’s more than that in the summer, but less in the winter. I go on a walk every morning and evening and also walk as my main mode of transportation. Besides that I go to Pilates 3-4 times a week and I have an exercise bike at home that I use sometimes during the work day (boring meetings where I don’t have to say a lot, etc). I live in a city.
I live in The Netherlands in a small city. I try to have 10000 steps a day, last week I was on average slightly above 10000 steps. I sport 3/4 times a week (going to the gym or team sport).
On a workday: I cycle a couple of kilometres to get to and from the train station during my commute and I walk about 10.000 steps every day. I’ve recently also taken up swimming a couple times a week.
My work desk can turn into a standing desk, so I try to alternate between sitting and standing relatively regularly. I’m mostly sitting down at home though.
In the weekend: I tend to walk a lot more (about 20/25.000 steps), but don’t cycle as much (usually just to go see friends or to go to the pub). I’m definitely sitting down more in the weekend though.
I live in a small city.
Walking every day (to do errands or to walk the dog or just for myself, I live in a walkable suburban area).
Gym 2-3x a week, shorter yoga at home 1-2x a week.
Have a sitting job but I can move around and stretch my legs anytime.
I’m a regular at the gym. Running, lifting, swimming. Not much walking nowadays tho, due to the type of job and commute I have. I sit for at least 6h on a working day. On days off, I move all day no matter the activity there will still be lots of walking at least.
10k to 25k steps in a day.
Don’t exercise like I should, which means ‘never’, but *used to* do at least 30 km (up to 100km some days) on my bike every day.
I doubled in weight over a few years, and peaked a bit over triple digits for a brief while, which I’m now below again.
I live in a Town in Belgium.
This year I’m planning on taking it a bit easier. I’ll be doing around 4h football training and 1h30 match. I might not be able to stop myself on going gym again for around 6h, but I was thinking of just training at home this time. I also cycle and try to run depending on the time of the year. So over the years it was typically around 10h relatively intense sport.
I’m athletic, but I sit down waaaay to much too. Which causes me injuries, because I go from inactive to intense training. I keep it in mind now and try to move, stretch, lightly train at home.
I play tennis once a week and do yoga 1 a week, ride a bike for around 15 min (30 min per day because two ways) 2 times a week and thatās it. Big city, desk job in IT. I used to ride my bike and walk more when I worked 100% from home. I make 10.000+ a day only when on vacation or on the weekends depending on the activity we are doing, I wouldnāt know when to walk so much in a regular day. My phone says last week average Mo-Fr was around 5.000 steps. I didnāt went for a walk in my lunch hour or did yoga/tennis because itās still summer break around here for sport clubs. I have kids and already have to wake up at 6 am. No way I can wake up even earlier to go for a walk.
I try to go for a walk during lunch hour, but itās not possible everyday.
Rural France. I wake up early to go to the gym. Usually I work on different muscle groups, and do cardio 3-4 times per week. Usually stairmaster, swimming, or biking. I also try to walk maybe 15k steps per day.
Urban Area but in a more green part so not inner city
I try to get 4 exercise sessions in each week
My job allows me to workout while on the clock so this saves a lot of time
I do a mix of cardio and weights
I’m also thinking about getting myself an Endurance bike
As a programmer in Bucharest, I do 3 1h trainings a week at gym that involves intense 30 min cardio and 30 mins of weightlifting and stretches. I rarely skip these workouts. I sit more than 8 hours a day, but I do move plenty through the house in this interval. Currently I feel great and there is no sign that my 38 m body needs more sport.
Living in madrid I averaged 20k steps a day and did weights 3-4 times.. America: 5k steps a day.. itās atrocious
I love how almost everyone here hits the gym 3-4 days a week, walks 10k+ steps a day, and cycles everywhere in between. A textbook example of a selection bias.
