I'm a historian and i recently had this discussion with a Dutch friend of mine that the Dutch are in general much more considerate towards their own colonial legacy then Belgians are. From my own perspective, Belgians are mostly apathetic towards that part of their history, and tend to mostly shift the blame towards Leopold II, while the Dutch seem to give this topic and their own wrongdoing more attention in their school curriculums, their museums, etc.

So i want to know: how do other European countries handle this? this could be in their school curriculums, in museums, in the public space (statues, remembrances) in the news, in politics, in the minds of the people, etc.
