  1. Booking accommodation for my trip to Berlin in 2 weeks and very disappointed to see how expensive Berlin’s become.

I swear to God I paid less than €15 a night for a bed in a 4-bed dorm 10 years ago. Now you don’t seem to get anything less than about €30 for a bed in a 12-bed dorm out in the sticks. And Airbnbs are barely cheaper than regular hotels

  2. I read that after the attack in Solingen they’re considering introducing a knife carrying ban… I don’t really get it, though. Don’t these attacks mostly take place in knife-free (theoretically) zones? Are they going to search everyone for knives? What’s the point of banning stuff left and right – – I mean murder is banned, but that didn’t stop this guy, right?

    I don’t get it.

    Anyway.

I read that Mondo Duplantis already raised his Olympic record by a centimetre in Poland. People accuse him of milking bonuses by increasing his record by a centimeter every time, but first, it’s not like he’s able to break his own record every time and second, every person in his place would do the same, even if he could clear 6.30 right now. Compared to, say a Premier League player, what he gets is ridiculously low anyway.

I just wonder what it must be like to be a pole vaulter right now. He’s now regularly over 6.20, and the others are not even able to jump 6. You’re basically competing for the second place per default.
