Do schools in your country teach kids much about your ancient or pre-Christian lore?

In America we usually have a unit in Greek/Egyptian mythology (the Western element) and a unit on Native American mythology (the Native element) as smaller kids. Then as teens we might examine Beowulf while studying the development of the English language.
