  1. Japan announced its intent to surrender 79 years ago. Organized resistance would continue for about a week or so longer, especially outside of Mainland Japan.

  2. Small town, non touristic Thailand is pretty interesting,in a strange way… not a lot really happens,a lot of sitting around and observing but if you look for them, you can find plenty of things that are different from ‘European’ life and also quite different from big city life here.

I’m sitting opposite a shop selling drinks in the traditional way.. home made and served in plastic bags, with a straw.Extremely cheap and very popular, especially with children here.

  3. I was talking to a German tourist yesterday, the only other foreigner I’ve seen in this town…he has been travelling for nearly 2 years.

We ended up talking about peanut butter for some reason! The Thais use peanuts for satay but this guy wanted some specific brand of PB for breakfast, and he couldn’t find it anywhere.

Strange what people miss from home 😉

I love the various Asian breakfasts, but I would also like some good plain Greek yoghurt… not the sweet industrial yogurt they sell here.

  4. So Liz Truss made news after she stormed out of an interview in response to [the world’s most harmless prank](https://youtu.be/VgYHlLg331s?si=lU6u1BXZY-Q15YFz), and then went on Twitter to whine about how her free speech was being stifled by “the far-left” when the only person stifling her own speech was herself.

Every time I see a clip of Liz Truss I thank my lucky stars that this country managed to dodge such a gigantic bullet by kicking her out of office as soon as it did. Fuck me, I thought *I* was too thin-skinned to lead a country. Can you imagine how someone like her would handle diplomatic negotiations?

  5. My British brain has decided that it can no longer handle driving my Dutch car and it’s gotten so bad this week my road positioning is fucked and I just took off someone’s wing mirror.

Today I am a basket case now wondering how I’ll ever drive again.

  6. So, I tried the gymnastic ball for a bit, and it’s not really for me… maybe I went too hard on the first go, but I had a lot of back pain after two days.

But it is really good for… well, exercise! There are tons of stuff one can do with it during breaks, especially in a home office situation. So, it’s definitely a keeper.

Last night the cats were busy on the terrace hunting moths and stuff. I opened the door at around midnight, and the small cat, who normally sleeps with us, stormed out of the door straight to the bedroom (it’s not like he was trapped, there’s a cat flap). Apparently he forgot that it was bedtime already. This is not the smartest cat I ever had, bless him. But he’s so cute.
