As an American, I'm pretty used to everyone on my continent being on the same team. Sure we have massive political divides, but those are more ideological and tend to transcend state lines, its not like there are super intense rivalries or prejudices between Pennsylvanians and New Yorkers. We might rib each other a bit and have some playful stereo types, but for the most part we are all Americans and people would look at you funny if you put too much stock into what state someone was from.
With the European Union serving to unite the countries of Europe in economic and cultural ways, I was curious how you felt about each other. Do you consider yourselves "all on the same side" or are there still grudges between European countries, and if there are, would you consider them normal or more fringe?
Edit: I wanted to address the fact that I said "continent" in my post, a lot of folks are assuming that I was only talking about the United States. I get why you think that, but it wasn't what I meant, I did mean that most of the countries in North America, particularly the US, Canada, and Mexico all tend to operate on the same team. We are obviously separate nations, with separate agendas, but I would say that we all have overwhelmingly positive relationships with one another and think highly of each other, despite what you might see the talking heads screaming about on the news.
I apologize and I understand why you might think I was only talking about the us, that's my fault because in my post I only really talked about how States get along, mostly because that's what I have the most first hand experience with. It was not my intention to project that the US was the only continent in North America. Thanks!
