One common refrain I hear from Europeans is that the depth of history of their nations is foundational to the experience of being European. As a non-native American I don't have that, obviously my family comes from somewhere, and I have cultural traditions that I still practice from my grandparents homeland, but that all feels very far away and minor compared to the modern American culture I participate in every day. So I'm curious, do you personally feel a deep connection to your country's past? And if so how would you describe it? Would you say that most of your peers feel the same way as you about your country's history or do you have a unique relationship with it?
