What would be the six greatest Europeans across time and space? I think it's best to ignore which countries are actually in the EU or not, as that is kinda arbitrary and the EU is about European unity. You also need to include a woman. I would choose:

5€ – Aristotle 🇬🇷

Obviously one of the Ancient Greeks has to take the spot, and it's probably one of Homer, Plato, Socrates or Aristotle. I chose him because he's a polymath who wrote about a bunch of topics, not just philosophy but science as well.

10€ – Constantine the Great 🇦🇱🇬🇷🇷🇸

One of the most celebrated Roman emperors, not just for spreading Christianity but also making Byzantium the capital of the empire, which would be the centre of Eastern Europe for over a millennium. Born in what is now Serbia, and being half Illyrian (Albanian) half Greek, he's the perfect Balkan rep.

20€ – Charlemagne 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇳🇱🇧🇪🇱🇺

The founder of both France and Germany, and practically the founder of the West. Started the Carolingian Renaissance, reforming administration, law, education, military organization, and religion.

50€ – Yaroslav the Wise 🇺🇦🇷🇺🇧🇾

Transformed Rus' from being dominated by foreigners, first by Norsemen and later Greeks, to being an independent superpower, built the city of Yaroslav after beating the Pechenegs, proclaimed the first Slavic metropolitan bishop of Kyiv, who later wrote the first piece of Old East Slavic literature, defended the country from a Greek naval raid and compiled the first written code of laws of the country. Celebrated equally among all East Slavs.

100€ – Petrarch 🇮🇹

Started the Renaissance, father of humanism, made sonnets that were popular all over Europe, his language would later be the base of the modern Italian language.

200€ – Queen Margaret 🇩🇰🇳🇴🇸🇪🇮🇸🇫🇮

Unified Scandinavia (including Finland and Iceland) after the Black Death ravaged them, highly praised for her virtue and political skill, protected the north from German and Hanseatic dominance and promoted cultural unity among the three kingdoms without just Danifying them.

500€ – James Watt 🇬🇧

Invented the steam engine which would be the ultimate catalyst for the Industrial revolution, which put Europe way ahead of other continents during the course of the 19th century. Good Celtic representation as well as British.

Honourable mentions:

Napoleon, would be very divisive, France and Italy are already represented.

Queen Tamar for Caucasus, the leader of medieval Georgia at its peak

John III Sibieski, monarch of Poland and Lithuania, turned back Ottoman expansion into Europe

Columbus, discovered America.

Nikola Tesla, Croatian Serb inventor
