  1. Very small plane into Mulu today.. there’s no way to get to this trek by road.

Start the exploration of the national park today, with the caves, and the main trek (after a longboat ride through the jungle) starts tomorrow.

Hopefully if all.goes well we will reach the Pinnacles and then return back to NP headquarters in 4 days.

  2. I was tying up some tomato plants yesterday evening when an old neighbour uncle walked by, pointed towards my cucumber plants and asked if they’re sunflowers. I didn’t say anything, but gave him a few cucumbers. He thanked and said he knows nothing about “this stuff”.

    I know, uncle. I know.

  3. Just realized something about my language.

    Meat is meat.

    Fat is fat.

A person can be called fat.

But in Finnish, the official word, the word used even in medical connotations, is “lihava”, which directly translates as “meaty”. I understood this after a headline stewing in my head for a day or two: “lihan kulutus lisää lihavuutta” = “consuming meat is linked to increased “meatiness””.

  4. So [Jack White sneakily released a new album called “No Name”](https://www.uncut.co.uk/reviews/jack-white-no-name-146596/), but you can’t really buy it anywhere. In selected record stores in the US they gave a free 12″ vinyl with every purchase made. And his record company apparently officially encourages people to “rip it”. (you can find a google drive link on /r/jackwhite)

[First listen is very positive](https://youtube.com/watch?v=APU-f67pJeM), he hasn’t sounded so much like The White Stripes in years.
So if you’re a fan of raw garage punky blues rock, definitely check it out!
