Is it common for people in your country to go for an MBA at some point of time in their careers? I know that in the US, MBA is a highly valued degree, and many smart people leave technical jobs to pursue it. Also, it lets you "escape" your original domain if you didn't like it, and generalise instead of specialise, thereby increasing your employment options.
In the Netherlands however, I don't see people so keen to pursue MBAs. I am not sure why that would be the case, because the NL have several large companies and banks that would pay high wages. Does the taxation laws in Western Europe dissuade people from chasing higher salaries, so MBA is not a popular choice? Or, are Europeans naturally inclined to not pursue money?
For reference, I work for an engineering company where people rarely aspire to study for an MBA and make more money. In the US, people regularly left their jobs to pursue an MBA.
