For instance, I have read Murakami's works in Japanese (since that is his native language – hence why they often get published first in japanese) the same can be said for any author when they write in their own language (other than English) I have tried reading translations of his works in English, but it just does not cut it out for me. (The same can be said for any language.)

After knowing the OG writing style in Japanese (for me, as a native speaker), does not really "translate" well since it's different to how he would actually write it himself, regardless: the source material would always be deemed the original since that is the first language (a book) is published in, plus it is actually written by the author. (That is if you are a native speaker of their language.)
