My regular gym is closed for renovations all summer, so I am now going to Basic Fit instead. I was pleasantly surprised because Basic Fit doesn't have a good reputation, but honestly, there isn't much to fault.
It's three times the size of my old gym, with a lot of machines I hadn't seen before, and plenty of weights and pulleys. You never have to wait for equipment (for example, my old gym had 3 pulleys, while Basic Fit has a dozen; they also have 2 of each pair of dumbbells, a dozen benches, etc).
The downsides I've noticed are poor hygiene (nobody changes their shoes or cleans the machines after use and there is some dust on all machines), you have to pay for water, and they charge you 13 times per year instead of 12 like most gyms. Despite this, I'm now considering canceling my old gym subscription and staying at Basic Fit.
