After I (29M) broke up with my last boyfriend (33M) about a year and a half ago, I’ve been pretty steadily playing the field and just having fun hook ups with other guys, usually around my age or younger (i.e. mid 30s to 18+). Had no interest in finding a partner.
Just recently I started seeing this guy (21M) (last month) – we went out for drinks one night and really hit it off. We’ve been talking and seeing each other pretty regularly (visits 1-2 a week and text every day). He’s cute, quite goofy and very creative. I really like him and while I’m not getting my hopes up or anything, it looks like things might start to get serious quite soon.
The thing is, I’ve told some of my friends about me and him, and all of them have said he’s too young for me, and it’s not appropriate. I don’t agree with them, but it’s got me a bit doubtful now. If they’re uneasy about it, I guess what would my family say?
My question is – is this too much of a gap for our ages / gender? Or are they being sensitive?
Thoughts welcomed.
TL;DR: friends think i have too old to keep seeing a guy i like. I need to know if it’s a them problem or a me problem.
