Some british towns can be ”guessed” where they’re located by etymology.

examples:
\-ham (from old english hām, meaning homestead/village) mainly found in the east and the southeast (saxmundham, horsham, wymondham, dersingham, dagenham)
\-by (from old norse býr, meaning village) mainly found in the east midlands & east anglia, derived from old scandinavian settlers who settled there. (somersby, saxilby, thorganby, grimsby)
\-thorpe (from old norse þorp, meaning satellite farm) mostly found in the east midlands (mablethorphe, scunthorpe)

i cant be arsed doing any more
