Close friend is straining their relationships because they can’t stop being a devils advocate

I’m trying to figure out a way to gently bring this problem up. Because I have heard their other friends and family and even their spouse stress about the issue. That being You could say something as simple as a Venting your frustration:

“Man why is this xxxx this way?”

“Well it’s probably becau-“ and just launched into a explanation that no one asked for or needed to the point that it is facetious.

I don’t say certain things because I just don’t want to hear what they’re explanation is going to be. I have also noticed that when they go into this mode, they just kind of pull info from thin air.

I have called them on this as they are an educated individual so there’s no reason to fluff up answer is no one asked for with made up information . Their response was that they were simply inferring…

outside of this one treat they are actually pretty delightful to be around. It’s sort of surprising to have this Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde thing pop up so recently and I care about them very much obviously.

But I am about to say “No one asked the devils opinion, what do YOU think!?” And I realize that is very lacking in tact.

But after having a conversation with their spouse, they sort of have the exact same emotions were there just absolutely tired of hearing a explanation for a simple, venting, a frustration or a rhetorical question.

TL;DR
Friend keeps irritating her whole family, spouse, and friends with devils advocacy to the point people don’t engage with them as much.
