My wife’s relative which has been very important to her in her childhood, gave beer to our toddler while on a beach trip.

To give some more context I have always tried to keep my distance from this relative due to their beliefs and behaviors. They were not okay with covid vaccine for once, also they seem to be in a strange cult. This person also use to be a hospice nurse.

We visited our home country and we book a nice Airbnb with a pool by the beach. We brought my wife’s parents and other relatives, I brought my parents, they all get along. We had fun during the day, all good. While preparing dinner, this relative had my toddler painting and having fun, all good so I didn’t pay too much attention since I was trying to have her stuff ready for bed time. My parents were nearby and alerted me that this person gave my toddler some beer from their cup.

I stayed behind and watch and they did it again! I took my toddler and told this person that this is a child and shouldn’t have any of that. I took my toddler to our room and told my wife.

She talked to them and they promise to apologize. I did not speak to this person again for the rest of the trip and I would always kept an eye on my child all time when near to this person. I never got any apology.

The following day my kid had diarrhea. I am not sure how much beer my kid drank and if her diarrhea was caused by the beer or anything she ate during the trip.

I plan to stop any contact between my kid and this person. I’m sure my wife can’t due to everything this person means to her.

Am I good making this decision or am I being too harsh?
