Things between me and my GF are going great so far. In fact, we decided that we were ready to meet each other’s parents. We are in a college town and live not far from each other, so her parents are going to see me on one the days they visit my GF. Which is awesome, but there is major issue.

I have major anxiety issues when it comes to dealing with things I’ve never dealt with. With this being my first relationship, I have obviously never done the whole “meet the parents thing.” Normally I’m pretty calm, collected, and overall positive. But the moment I’m thrown into an uncomfortable environment, I always stumble on my words and get worked up over it.

I’ve been practicing CBT for the past year to combat the lifelong issue, but I’m still afraid I might screw up my first impression on her parents because of this.

Y’all got any tips to make me feel more comfortable about the situation?
